Born in Morocco, Laura Mauro grew up there before spending 14 years abroad — 6 in Europe, 8 in Latin America (Chile, Colombia, Ecuador). In 2023 she returned to her home country to found Terra Morocco, an inbound agency based in Marrakech and a member of the international Terra Gaïa network, present across the world for more than 20 years. Her mission: to reveal “the real Morocco, the one you only sense through a local's eyes”.

A TOOGO user for eleven years, she shares here her view of her country and of her work.

Her Morocco

If you had 48 hours to make someone fall in love with Morocco, where would you take them?

The South, without hesitation. I'd take them along a small road between mountains, adobe villages and palm groves, with lunch in a local home, an end of day walking somewhere with no one around… and a night under the stars. In 48 hours, you have to show that Morocco is far more than a destination: it's an atmosphere, encounters and a way of life.

What's your secret gem in Morocco, the one you love to reveal to travellers?

I really struggle to pick just one! But probably the Anti-Atlas, around Tafraoute. It's still a very unspoilt Morocco, with incredible landscapes, villages, old Berber granaries and, above all, very few people. It's exactly the kind of place where I love taking travellers.

If you had to give a single Moroccan experience to someone who has never been, which would you choose?

Sharing a meal with a Moroccan family. Not necessarily the most spectacular experience on paper, but often the one travellers remember the longest. You eat, you talk, you laugh, you ask a thousand questions… and for a few hours, you're no longer really visiting Morocco — you're living it.

What do you enjoy most in your work today, and why?

Still being surprised by my own country. I was born in Morocco, I grew up there, and yet I keep discovering places, people and craftsmanship I didn't know. And my job is precisely to turn those discoveries into trips. It's a rather beautiful excuse to be curious all the time!

TOOGO & her

TOOGO in three words would be…?

Essential, intuitive, versatile.

What first won you over about TOOGO?

Above all, the ability to build a trip and make it immediately beautiful and readable for the client. When you sell tailor-made travel, the way you tell the trip is almost as important as the trip itself.

Which TOOGO feature would you struggle most to do without today?

Creating tours and products. Production is the lifeblood of our field.

What has TOOGO changed or made easier most in your day-to-day?

Centralisation. From production to trip design, logistics, invoicing, account tracking, overall financial management… all in one place! Using every function, you quickly understand that TOOGO was built by and for DMCs.

Which task would take far too long WITHOUT TOOGO?

Creating every proposal by hand! Presenting a ten-day programme nicely — with the stages, the accommodation, the activities, the photos and the prices — would be extremely time-consuming.

How does TOOGO help you create a better travel experience for your clients?

Because it saves us time on the technical side and lets us spend more on what really matters: calling the client and understanding them, thinking about the pace of the trip, looking for a new experience, choosing the right accommodation, or simply supporting the client better. The part on TOOGO is the one that takes us the least time.

What has TOOGO changed in the way your team works?

We work far more easily on the same files. Anyone can pick up a trip, quickly understand where it stands and access the essential information. For a team working on many different tailor-made trips, that's precious.

If you had to explain to another DMC why you use TOOGO, what would you say in one sentence?

Because it takes you from a trip idea to a clear proposal and all the way to the financial closing of that trip. End to end!

TOOGO is a machine. You just have to feed it well and everything gets done.

If TOOGO had one “superpower” in your agency, what would it be?

Teleportation! It turns an idea in our head into a real trip presented to the client far more quickly.

And if you could invent one TOOGO feature just for yourself, what would it be?

A magic button that would automatically analyse the whole file before confirmation and tell me: “Laura, you forgot this.” The ultimate check: missing times, inconsistencies, unconfirmed services, details to verify… I'd sign up right away! Or a button to make payments happen automatically — the dream!
